The vernissage on 10 November 2023 marked the start of our exhibition "The lanterns of the Vilich Adelheidis school children and the paintings of the Beuel painter Helmut Degenhard"
Ten goose lanterns and twelve pictorial representations of a Rhenish St Martin's procession from 1948 formed the backdrop for the opening of this year's St Martin's exhibition in the Bürgermeister-Stroof-Haus.
Children from Vilich's Adelheidis School were also guests. They had made the lights as part of the all-day supervision programme, this time under the guidance of Monika Mai.
The former teacher and active member of the Bonn-Rechtsrheinisch Monument and History Association was in charge of the project. The twelve-part cycle of paintings was created by the Beuel painter Helmut Degenhard (1924-2004).
The opening of the exhibition on the eve of St Martin's Day was celebrated with songs and a "Tale from the Goose Stable".
The exhibition can be viewed until 26 November 2023, during opening hours on Fridays and Sundays from 3 - 6 pm.
Admission is free.
